VeriLook Surveillance SDK Provides Real-Time Face Identification Using Video Surveillance Cameras

Detects Faces in Motion, Matches with Watch-list Databases and Reports Results in Real Time

VILNIUS, Lithuania, - Neurotechnology, a provider of high-precision biometric identification technologies, today announced the availability of VeriLook Surveillance SDK, a software development kit for biometric face identification using live video streams from high-resolution digital surveillance cameras. Unlike VeriLook 3.2 SDK and other facial recognition systems that require the user to actively look into a camera, VeriLook Surveillance SDK is intended for real-time identification of faces from high-resolution digital surveillance cameras, which can be mounted in airports, retail stores, on the street or in other locations where passers-by may not be looking into the camera. VeriLook Surveillance SDK can also be used for easy time-attendance control applications when a camera is mounted near an entrance, enabling fast, automatic counting and/or recognition of individuals as they pass through.

VeriLook Surveillance SDK processes face images in real-time video streams and matches them against an internal database - such as a watch-list of crime suspects or a list of authorized and un-authorized personnel. Recognized faces are immediately reported to the system. Once a face is detected, it is tracked in all successive frames of video until it disappears from camera view. Face appearance, tracking and disappearance events are reported to the system. The face tracking in VeriLook Surveillance SDK also enables automatic enrollment of faces from a video source and can add new biometric facial templates to the database or watch-list on the fly.

"VeriLook Surveillance SDK is a significant addition to our face identification technologies," said Dr. Algimantas Malickas, CEO of Neurotechnology. "The ability to use surveillance cameras to identify passive users provides a range of new applications for face identification, such as law enforcement, airport security, shops and other commercial uses."

VeriLook Surveillance SDK enables real-time face detection, extraction and matching by providing embedded parallelization of all VeriLook functions for improved performance on multi-core, multi-processor systems with up to eight logical processors. VeriLook Surveillance SDK supports a wide variety of programming languages and works with a range of high-resolution digital surveillance cameras, including Prosilica GigE Vision cameras. Support for additional cameras can be requested.

Both VeriLook Surveillance SDK and VeriLook 3.2 SDK enable the development of fast, reliable and cost-effective biometric facial identification systems for Windows and Linux platforms. VeriLook Surveillance and VeriLook 3.2 templates are fully compatible with MegaMatcher multi-biometric technology.

VeriLook Surveillance SDK is available through Neurotechnology or from distributors worldwide. For more information, go to: http://www.Neurotechnology.com.

About Neurotechnology
Neurotechnology is a provider of high-precision biometric fingerprint, face and iris identification algorithms, object recognition technology and software development products. More than 2000 system integrators, security companies and hardware providers in 98 countries integrate Neurotechnology's algorithms and software development technologies into their own products, with millions of customer installations worldwide.

Neurotechnology's identification algorithms have consistently earned the highest honors in some of the industry's most rigorous competitions, including the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST)'s Fingerprint Vendor Technology Evaluation (FpVTE) and the Fingerprint Verification Competitions (FVC).

Drawing from years of academic research in the fields of neuroinformatics, image processing and pattern recognition, Neurotechnology was founded in 1990 in Vilnius, Lithuania under the name Neurotechnologija and released its first fingerprint identification system in 1991. Since that time the company has released more than 40 products and version upgrades for identification and verification of objects and personal identity. On April 14, 2008 the company announced an official name change to Neurotechnology.
