Precise Biometrics Receives USD 268,000 OrderLUND, SWEDEN, Jun 16, 2009 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Precise Biometrics has received an additional order for hardware worth USD 268,000 (SEK 2.1 million) in a Match-on-Card project for government employees. The order is a new follow-up order from an existing customer in the Middle East and comprises both hardware and Precise Match-on-Card(TM) licenses.
The delivery consists of Precise 200 MC readers, combined fingerprint and smart card readers that will be used in a current government ID card project together with the Precise Match-on-Card(TM) technology. The government customer will use the fingerprint readers in further extending their ID card program.
Precise Match-on-Card(TM) is the process of storing and matching fingerprint information on a smart card to establish the physical presence of an individual. As the fingerprint information does not leave the card, there is no need for a database and the cardholder's integrity is preserved.
The government is an existing customer of Precise Biometrics since 2004, when the company delivered the first volume order of fingerprint readers. Since then, Precise Biometrics has supplied fingerprint readers on a regular basis. In 2008, orders at a value of SEK 5 million to the same customer were communicated.
The solution is again provided together with two partners - a leading global system integrator and a local solution provider. The fingerprint readers from Precise Biometrics will be delivered during the second quarter.
Precise Biometrics holds a strong position in the region being the supplier of Match-on-Card for the national ID card programs in Qatar and Bahrain, as well as for other government and enterprise customers. Thomas Marschall, CEO of Precise Biometrics, comments on the order:
